STEM and Emerging Technologies in Special Education (STEM-ET SPED) SIG

STEM-ET SPED SIG

The STEM and Emerging Technologies in Special Education (STEM-ET SPED) Special Interest Group supports faculty, doctoral students, and teacher educators working at the intersection of STEM instruction for students with disabilities and the preparation of teachers who serve those students. Specifically, our foci include: (a) inclusive STEM pedagogy across mathematics, science, engineering, and computer science, (b) assistive and emerging technologies that expand access to STEM, (c) evidence-based integration of AI and emerging tools in personnel preparation, (d) resource sharing across institutions and program sizes, (e) collaboration on research and grants, and (f) mentorship for early-career faculty and doctoral students entering this work. The SIG is a learning community, not a credential gate. Members do not need prior expertise in any specific technology to join. By offering a low-barrier entry point at the intersection of STEM, accessibility, and emerging technologies in personnel preparation, this SIG supports robust membership, promotes equity, and increases TED visibility in an area of active field demand. Approved by the TED Executive Board in May 2026.
