The purpose of the Early Career Faculty SIG of TED is to promote the ongoing productivity of faculty members in the early stages (pre-tenure or within the first five years post-graduation) of their careers in special education teacher education. Specifically, the organizers of this SIG recognize the need for collegial support as recent doctoral program graduates transition into IHE positions. Understanding the balance of scholarship, teaching, and service as prioritized by the employing institution and position type is essential to early career success. Also, the ability to collaborate and build and maintain a professional network is critical. It is the goal of this SIG that its membership will be a professional network to promote and support each other’s productivity.
